What it does
- Knows what is due. Each service item is due by distance or by time, whichever comes first. The tracker learns how far you usually drive, so it can say not just “at 47,000 miles” but roughly when that will be — and it adds those dates to your calendar if you want.
- Keeps the paperwork. Attach receipt photos and PDFs to any record. Tap Scan receipt and it reads the date, mileage, total, shop and work done from the photo, right on your device, for you to check.
- Shows what the car costs. Maintenance, repairs, fuel, insurance and everything else, month by month, per mile or kilometre, done yourself or at a shop.
- Tracks fuel economy between full tanks, partial fill-ups included.
- Makes a service history PDF with every record and, if you like, the receipts — useful when you sell, claim on a warranty or see a new mechanic.
About the service intervals
Each car starts with common items at conservative intervals — oil and filter, tire rotation, brakes, fluids, filters, spark plugs and more — with the typical range shown beside each. They are a starting point, not your manufacturer's schedule. Your owner's manual has the right intervals for your car, and they vary with the engine, the oil and how the car is driven. Change, switch off or add items to match it.
The VIN check, and the optional online lookup
A VIN is checked in your browser: its length and letters, the check digit that catches most typing mistakes on North American vehicles, the model year and the maker. For the full make, model, trim and engine you can choose Look up online, which sends the VIN — and nothing else — to the free decoder run by the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Nothing is sent unless you press that button.
How receipt scanning works
The first time you scan, the page downloads a text-recognition engine (Tesseract, about 7 MB) from this site; your browser keeps it for next time. The photo is read on your device and never uploaded. Printed receipts in good light read best; handwriting and crumpled paper often do not, so every field it fills is highlighted for you to check.
